Community Input Wanted For Fox Middle School’s Future

The Jackson County community is invited to help shape the future of one of its most iconic buildings—The Fox Middle School, built in 1939. A public survey is now open to gather ideas and input on how the historic school building can be repurposed to best serve the community in the years ahead.

The survey is sponsored by the Jackson County Chamber of Commerce with the endorsement from the Jackson County Board of Education, Gainesboro Town Council and Jackson County Commissioners Court.

Whether you have memories of walking its halls, dreams for a new use, or just want a voice in the planning process, your input matters.

A short community survey is available and can be accessed by scanning the QR code below or printed surveys are available at 6 different locations: Jackson County Courthouse, Gainesboro Town Hall, Charles Ralph Holland Memorial Library, Jackson County Health Department, Jackson County Board of Education, and Miss Sallie’s Market. . It takes only a few minutes to complete and will play a vital role in guiding decisions about the building’s future use.

“We want to make sure that the repurposing of the Fox Middle School reflects the values, needs, and ideas of the people it was built to serve,” said John Deane, Jackson County Chamber President. “This is a unique opportunity to preserve a piece of local history while creating something new and useful for generations to come.”

The survey will remain open through August. All responses are anonymous, and everyone—students, parents, business owners, and lifelong residents—is encouraged to participate.
