Granville Marks Thompson's Opry Debut

The 100th Anniversary of Uncle Jimmy Thompson performing on first Grand Ole Opry Show was held on May 24th Granville Heritage Day. The Tennessee Department of Tourism dedicated a Tennessee Music Pathway Marker for Uncle Jimmy Thompson. Pictured at the dedication are left to right Stan Webster Historic Granville, Shan Stout Putnam Co. Tourism Director, Hope Vargas Director Jackson County Chamber, Charlie Mattos WSM Radio And Grand Ole Opry Announcer, Jackson County Mayor Jim Morgan, Bill Anderson Grand Ole Opry , Keith Bilbrey former Grand Ole Opry announcer, Tennessee Commissioner of Tourism Mark Ezell, Ashley DeRossett Tennessee Department of Tourism, Liz Bennett Historic Granville and Randall Clemons Historic Granville. The dedication was held in conjunction with the first Uncle Jimmy Thompson Old Time Fiddler’s National Championship.
