During the November meeting of the Jackson County School Board, Jason Hardy told the board Jackson County once again won the Most Outstanding Middle Tennessee School from UTrust.
Hardy also briefly touched on Governor Bill Lee’s proposed Education Freedom Scholarship act stating he is confident in the county schools.
Hardy also announced Kim Sells was hired as the Nutrition Supervisor for the county as well a Kera Sherrell hired on as an Assistant at Gainesboro Elementary.
The board approved Jessica Patterson as Head Basketball Coach at Dodson Branch Elementary with Brian Lee taking the Assistant position.
The following fundraisers were approved: JCHS Baseball- Fundraiser University, JCHS Bowing – 5K, GES PTO Winter Festival/Chili Supper and T-Shirt Sale.
The board approved multiple financial reports for multiple support organizations within the schools.
Jackson County High School Principal stated the Tennessee Highway Patrol has worked with the students and teachers on multiple events including drivers safety and a rollover simulation. The JCHS FFA ranked 23 at nationals.
Gainesboro Elementary School Principal stated December is slated to be a busy month for the students with winter benchmarks starting.
Dodson Branch School Principal stated he has been meeting with teachers about achievement and growth. And stated he received the news that Dodson Branch was ranked number 85 out 1547 school in Tennessee by the US and World Report, making them number two in the Upper Cumberland just behind Capshaw Elementary.
The next meeting of the School Board will be December 18, 2023 at 6:00pm.
